Leadership
I was standing in a Waste Management operations yard in Columbia, South Carolina. Equipment was breaking down. My team was exhausted. And everyone kept saying the same thing: "We'll fix that later." "We'll address that next quarter." "We'll talk about that in the next leadership huddle."
Finally, I asked them: "What's wrong with now?"
That question became our mantra. It's the foundation of everything I teach, everything I build, and everything I believe about leadership.

The Framework: Now vs. Later
Later is a closed fist. You're tense. Defensive. Hoarding information. Blaming others. Waiting for perfect conditions. Your team can feel it—and they mirror it back to you.
Now is an open hand. You're present. Curious. Taking responsibility. Moving with what's in front of you. Your team feels safe to tell you the truth—and they bring you solutions, not just problems.
The Now Step
Stop reading. Take three slow breaths. Ask yourself: What's wrong with now?
Write it down. Then ask: What's one small action I can take in the next hour to make this 5% better?
Do that thing.
That's the Now Philosophy. Not a strategy session. Not a consultant engagement. Just you, present, taking the next right step.
